I was so excited to be able to try this new type of craft called….

IDO3D Vertical Three Pen Art Set
with 3D Vertical Light!

Doesn’t that look FUN?

A 3D Pen for kids (and adults.)

I kept it on the dining room table for a couple of days and my daughter couldn’t wait to try it out!  She loves to draw and do crafts.  This is our story and what the kids learned from using the Vertical 3 Pen Set.

What is included in the IDO3D Vertical Three Pen Zoo Art Set with 3D Vertical Light?

  • 3D Pens
  • LED blue light
  • Plastic sheet and curved sheet

Of course, I want this to be a “learning experience” and to mesh it with something we were already learning.  Since we are using My Father’s World: Exploring Countries and Cultures – I told the kids they needed to draw a landmark and they could choose it.

After some handy skills at searching Mr. Google, they came up with the Big Ben.

Kids doing research

Actually, they started calling it Big Bend, in the photos you will see why.

Drawing in 3D

They began with a base, a square.  Seemed simple.  No mess, no fuss.

But, then we did something crazy…we started to fill it in and make a solid rectangle.  We would NOT suggest this in large quantities.  It was messier and harder to dry than straight lines.

We would also suggest to use on a disposable tablecloth not on a pretty throw yellow blanket, ahem.  The ink comes off fingers easily though with hand sanitizer or even straight rubbing alcohol but not so much with a pretty yellow throw blanket. Sigh.

3D LED light

One of my favorite things about this craft was the LED light that was needed to dry the ink.  It reminded me of the light the dentist puts in your mouth when filling a cavity except much cooler because no special glasses were needed.

IDO3D Making Big Ben

This craft should not have taken as long as we took.  First, my kids are perfectionists.  They get this from their father…their mother is more like “hurry, let’s finish and we can go eat some chocolate.”

3D Artwork

Again, the blue light was mesmerizing and so much to watch.

Big Bend 3D Art

And this photo explains why we named it Big Bend instead of Big Ben.  It had a little bend.  Being from Texas, we liked the name Big Bend after one of our favorite State Parks.

Now before you say that looks like a child make it…they did.  It is not perfect by any means but it taught us some valuable lessons.

They learned:

  • Slow and steady gets the job done.
  • They had to get it proportional for it not to lean over.
  • Patience about the drying time.
  • Clean up sometimes involves more than just soap and water.
  • Even after hard work the job might not look like what they had hoped and they will have a better plan next time.

3D Homeschool Project

What I learned:

  • This project is not something that can be rushed with little ones.
  • This is a great STEM project.
  • Perfection should NOT be expected.
  • It is okay for the kids to learn from their mistakes.

Overall, I would suggest this project but I would say that it does need adult supervision, then again, sometimes kids need the freedom to learn without constant supervision.

If you want more information like where to buy go to to IDO3D Website.

Blessings to you!  You are loved!
